day 1-2
We arrived in Cape Town on Tuesday afternoon. It was a long but enjoyable flight from Dullas, 14+ hours. Flight attends were outstanding. The seats were comfortable and the food delicious. I had steak, with spinach and a glass of wine. Dirk had a pasta dish and an ice cream sundae for dessert. I had cheese and grapes for dessert.
We were picked up by Kelly from Jarad transportation and the driven by Cindy to our accommodation. Welgelegen House is an old, but beautiful place. The evening host, Kirsten showed us to our room. He didn't have the keys available but promised our belongings would be safe.
We went to dinner at Karibu Restaurant. We shared a game platter. It consisted of Ostrich, Kubu, Impala, Spring box, venison sausage which was a mix of the different meats we sampled, ostrich sausages and some type of Beef. I enjoy the ostrich and the spring box. I thought the other meats were tough and the impala and the venison sausage had a funky taste. Dirk enjoyed the ostrich. He also thought the impala and Kubu were tough. He'd did not enjoy the venison sausage either.
The restaurant was on the water at the Mall, but most restaurants were there.
We took a Uber back to the Welgelegen house and went to bed to prepare for the next few days of safaris in Botswana.
Wednesday morning we ate breakfast, which was also very good. They had the tiniest pastry that was delicious. I had a sample of tomatoes, cucumber and avocado. I also had scrambled eggs that were prepared perfectly! Dirk had yogurt and granola, and an omelet that was burnt, but he enjoyed it. He also like the brick wall.
We departed Welgelegen House at 7:30 AM for Botswana. We are sitting at the airport waiting for our flight right now. It's cold.
